Staff spotlight: Marjana Lima
A global journey to law
Marjana’s path to the legal profession has been anything but ordinary. She first studied law in the UK before travelling to Australia over a decade ago – a move that sparked a new chapter of exploration and growth. After years working in hospitality management, Marjana fell in love with Tasmania and decided to make it her permanent home.
Eager to put her legal knowledge to work, she completed further law study and Practical Legal Training before being admitted to practice this year.
Marjana already has a strong connection to Rae & Partners – spending five years with the firm as a paralegal in civil litigation before taking on a policy role with the Department of Justice Tasmania. It was clear, however, that her passion lay in client-focused legal work, and she returned to Rae & Partners in January to practise as a solicitor.
Making law accessible
Marjana’s practice covers estate planning and administration, commercial law, and property law. As she finds her style as a lawyer, she is guided by one clear principle:
"I believe the law should be accessible to all. I’m aiming for a people-centric approach, ensuring clients understand how we’re navigating the law on their behalf."
Her dedication to clear communication and genuine care reflects Rae & Partners’ commitment to putting clients first.
Community and connection
Marjana’s passion for people extends beyond her work. She volunteers her time on boards and committees, including serving as a Non-Executive Director for NOSS Tasmania Inc (a provider of support and employment for people with disability), and as Social Coordinator for the Northern Early Careers Lawyers Committee of the Law Society of Tasmania.
Life beyond the law
Outside of work, Marjana embraces life to the fullest as a single mum, with weekends filled with adventures, big and small. A lover of good food, she also enjoys cooking and exploring all things culinary. When she finds time to unwind, you’ll likely find her curled up with a fantasy novel, dancing to music (just not country!), or at a pilates class, yoga session or on an occasional run.
Marjana’s warmth, energy and commitment to people make her a valued member of the Rae & Partners team – and an inspiring example of how diverse experiences enrich the practice of law.
